Happy Birthday!

Connor is one of what? you may be asking. Connor is one year old! He auspiciously celebrates his first birthday as the weekend begins. Way to get the birthday wagon rolling.
What is Connor doing at one year? - not quite walking; talking a lot, but saying things we mostly dont understand; beginning to enjoy books - board books are just his speed. He possesses mad skills going up and down stairs, a talent honed the past month while Up North. "Why dont you just walk already?!" his uncle exclaimed yesterday upon observing him ramble easily down some steps.
At his recent 12 month check up he was 24 lbs and 29 in, and in perfect health. He's a very sturdy kid. Apparently he gets that from me, because sources say his father at this age was thin. (His father is still thin.)
In his first year Connor has traveled throughout Mississippi and Michigan, and has also been to Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, Indiana, and Ohio (we drove to Michigan). Soon he will become a little international traveler: in about a week I'm taking him to Japan where we'll live for at least the next 9 months.
So consider this blog Connor's travelogue (through the eyes of his mom, of course). Read here of his adventures and experiences in a new culture, far, far away from the Mississippi Delta which he formerly called home.
