Stayed in Mississippi a day too long

It is hard to pinpoint Connor’s first word, but for the record, we’ll say it’s “Dada.” I remember coming home from work to our apartment eager to see my child and future wife. They were both playing in the bathroom. While Connor was pounding on the toilet seat, he looked at me and said “Dada!” Whether it was a coincidence, or he really understood, is no longer up for debate. Now that he has a better understanding of the world around him, he has picked up some basics. For some reason we cannot comprehend, he says “Bye” with what I believe is the epitome of the Southern accent. He stretches the word into about five syllables. It sounds like “Baay-youe,” and takes him a couple of seconds to say it. I guess it goes to show you can take the baby out of the South, but you can’t take the South out of the baby.

Note: I put "by Joe," so that we can give credit for being funny, and ridicule posts that are not funny by being more specific.
